First of all, Bill, you're assuming the "girl" got the addictive pills from a sleaze ball dealer exploiting those physically addicted, knowing they're going to end up dead one day. Never mind the common occurrences that happen daily... Mom's not home, daughter sneaks her pills, prescribed from a doctor, sold by a pharmacist and the negligent parent who allowed the pills to be accessible, whether they were aware or not, has no responsibility for their daughter's death? If the child has used to the point of addiction, the addict WILL find those pills, I promise you. That addict will find them sold on temporary web sites, ordered and delivered to your home, then that option disappears, someone knows someone who can get them, and they get them for the addict without any interaction or even an acquaintance between the buyer and seller. The addict will find out about their friends' parents medicine cabinets, and so on. If the girl became addicted, PARENTAL NEGLIGENCE, Absent parents, emotionally or physically, whatever, it IS A PARENTAL FAIL...
No the dealer isn't a victim. Or maybe on another level they are. Maybe they were raised with addiction, by addicted parents, parents who sold drugs, parents who allowed and ignored truancy and had no concern for their kid's activities or their well being and future.
A friend of mine and her well adjusted son, didn't use drugs, got good grades, graduated, served in Iraq and Afghanistan had a friend in his circle who we later found out was huffing chemical products found in the home. He was addicted to that behavior and one day his father came home and found him dead from accidental asphyxiation from huffing household chemicals..
Another unrelated to the previous group found dead from an accidental asphyxiation from a behavior he was addicted to called auto erotic asphyxiation. I don't think I have to explain that practice that Michael Hutchins from INXS and David Carradine were also found to have accidentally died after performing this habit they were practicing regularly.
More deaths occur from alcohol and alcohol related incidents than any other drug. Drunk driving, physical addiction and subsequent withdrawal events have killed many. A violent seizure from alcohol withdrawal can kill even a young 40 something man otherwise in decent shape. Alcohol is responsible for domestic violence, and deaths resulting from the out of control actions of violence, it destroys families, creates health, mental and all kinds of social ills in society, but are bar tenders and liquor store owners criminals? Maybe, Are they criminals because someone who holds their liquor very well got served the last drink they had before they mowed down a family of six on the sidewalk?
Addictions are addictions, and they are called such because they are behaviors an individual struggles to stop doing but can't, or won't, or does for a while then relapses. Hard drugs, illegal drugs, controlled prescribed drugs, alcohol, household products, glue, the list goes on. As one drug gets wiped out and hard to find for a while, another one gets produced.. Chemists change up the formula, and a new killer is born. Veterinary meds, gynecological drugs, you'd be surprised what people get their hands on to alter the state of mind for escape. They escape deep rooted pain and mental anguish that came about during their childhood and growing years because parents who didn't deserve to have kids, selfishly did. Until values change, parents take their full time job seriously and really know how to LOVE and care for their kids, there will be a massive demand for drugs, alcohol, anything that the individual finds they can form a habit for to escape the brutal pain of living in a Narcissistic world of people who don't give a shit.
